girls trip 2011
i just returned from a great trip to southern california for our annual girls trip. megan, my mom and i were so glad to land in san diego and see the bright sun!
we quickly got to work on our itinerary (i was put in charge of the schedule for the trip. pressure much?) first, megan handed out the shirts she (ME) made. then we went straight to fins for lunch and then headed north for....
disneyland! when i told everyone that i wanted to hit disneyland for a couple hours they were a little hesitant. but then i explained that it would be great people watching and much more fun because we wouldnt have any kiddies with us. and even though it was more crowded than i thought it would be and two major rides were closed (and i have since learned that BRANGELINA were there the next day!) it was very fun. not sure the little families on pirates of the carribean enjoyed our "adult" conversations all that much....
we then stopped by in-n-out (where megan almost had a stroke when a surfer was changing in the parking lot and flashed everyone his goods)and then checked in to our newport hotel. the next morning, we promptly drove over to fashion island. and i thought the people watching at disneyland was good....
after a little shopping, we stopped by a little home decor store on pch. it was literally THE most expensive store i have ever been in (those pillows behind megan were $800) but we had fun pretending to live the life for a bit.
then we had lunch. and when i say that it was one of the best meals of my life, i mean it. seriously. javiers in newport beach. go there.
the food was out of the world and the ambience (right on the water) was outstanding. i was in heaven.
after lunch, we drove up to the hotel in santa monica. when we walked in the doors of our rooms and i saw this view i almost died.
the pool wasnt too shabby either.
i was obsessed with the interior design of our rooms. it was gorgeous. and it all made sense when we came back from dinner later that nite and realized it was a gay hotel. even better.
after we checked in, my mom and i walked over to the santa monica pier. it was windy but very beautiful.
i was sure i was going to see ryan and marissa cooper making out on this lifegaurd tower.
that nite, we got all dressed up, i did everyone's make up and we headed out for dinner.
i had heard of this bar that had amazing food and thought we would love it. but it was a little too fancy/gourmet for our taste buds.
we still managed to find some food we liked (soft shell crab, sweet potato fries with blue cheese aioli) and take a few group shots.
but for those of us who hadnt filled up enough, we had a second dinner at the apple pan. a very infamous hamburger joint in downtown l.a.
back the hotel that nite, i convinced everyone to line up for a picture of our shirts.
the following morning, we had a very scrumptious breakfast at huckleberry (where we saw ben harper and laura dern) and then went over to h.d. buttercup. the two pillows next to me are my dream pillows.
and then, yup. javiers was THAT good that we ate there again on our way back down to san diego.
it is seriously the place to be in newport. there were more fake boobs, hair extensions, and louboutins in that one restaurant than i have seen in all of seattle.
after dinner, we drove south on the pch. i love this shot of my mom taking a picture of the sunset.
the last nite of our girls trip, we lounged around brooke's house and relaxed. oh yeah. and i got into brooke's collection of fairies.
such a fabulous trip. cant wait to do it again.
