having fun at the fun center. imagine that.last monday night, craig, me, and a couple friends made the long trek down to the fun center. it was a beautiful night and we had a fantastic time. this picture was taken after our bumper boat adventure..... more on that later.

before the big swing.

during the big swing. it goes back and forth super fast until you are straight up.

after the big swing. dont let the word "swing" fool you...it is intense.

the happy couples. both couples havent been married for very long and they are so cute together. it made me feel like craig and i were old hags!

craig and alex on the go-carts. i dont know what makes little, not-very-fast, fake cars so much fun; but they are!

yeah, so the bumper boat operator guy was really surprised that we volunteered to get ourselves wet at nine o' clock at night. we promised we wouldnt use the waterguns attached to the boats, but after about one minute that rule flew out the window. too tempting.

gearing up for the battle. laser tag was super fun. like someone said, "it is the most fun when people get really competitive over simple games." thats the truth. we had a great time with our friends and hope to do it again sometime soon.

one pipe dream , one hedgehog, and one crazy boymy fantasy job would be to wrap packages all day long. no kidding. last christmas, my aunt even hired me to wrap some of her presents for her..... i was in heaven! i love to spend obscene amounts of money on gorgeous papers and ribbons. i take great pride in my wrapped gifts. thats why, when i lost a gift-wrapping competition at some relief society event i was quite bitter. (and obviously still havent built a bridge. how pathetic.)

meet henry. henry the flippin hedgehog. he makes little squeaky noises when tagg squeezes him and tagg is obsessed. why is it always the most inexpensive and random toys that kids love the most? go figure.

i do not set up these pictures. tagg is just naturally this weird.

while the kitty sleeps, the mice will catch a sneak peaklast night, craig and i caught the midnight showing of the dark knight (the newest batman movie). it was crazy good. heath ledger did an amazing job at being uber creepy. and as for me, i cannot complain about getting to see christian bale for two and a half hours....... but most of all, it was really fun to sneak out after tagg was asleep and just be kids again!

swing away

please do not judge my white trash baby. it was really hot and he loves being half nude, ok? he also loves the bucket swings at the park. he didnt even mind when i let him swing by himself for a second while i ran to get my camera...... (i am sure CPS would love to read that)

this gives me hope that now i will have someone to go on roller coasters with. craig doesnt do rides but i live for them. so maybe my little taggy will join me...... in a couple of years, of course.

thats a whole lotta skin. what a hunk.

some things

i know, i am kinda holding him...... but i promise, he is almost sitting up on his own! the problem is that he always wants to stand up instead of sitting, so as soon as i get him balanced he arches his back and locks his legs. little stubborn goober.

last sunday, we were able to get together with craig's family for lunch. craig's dad felt that tagg's church bubble was a tad bit unmanly, so tagg stripped down to his onesie.... tagg is such a people pleaser! :)

tagg went in for his five month check up last week. he weighs about seventeen pounds, is in the 75th percentile for height and 50th percentile for weight. he LOVED the mirror being at his eye level. he kept rolling over into the mirror to get a closer look!

he also couldnt get enough of the sterile paper they put down on the table. he was shoveling it in his mouth as fast as he possibly could. who knew that the doctor's office was such a fun place?

fabulous purchase of the week: the three of us went downtown this past week and stopped into my favorite kitchen supply store: sur la table. i picked up these sparkly rubber spatulas and i cannot stop staring at them. i LOVE them. craig says i must have been a moth in a previous life because i am always drawn to anything that sparkles. (i feel like i have already said that on this blog, but i am too lazy/tired to check, so pardon me if i have.)

when the pediatrician said "and make sure you dont have any blankets or stuffed animals in the crib with him, ok?" i just nodded and agreed. however, this is the only way tagg will fall asleep. so, our compromise is to go in after he is asleep and take the blabla away.

just in case......
tagg wanted to document how he looked today, just in case his granma was missing him. we love you, mimi! hurry home.

the favorite son...... with a tail
hahha, i know. but honestly, how could i pick a favorite when i have these two boys? just in the last week or so, tagg has totally taken notice of louis. tagg loves when louis comes near him or even better, brushes his tail up against his hands. a nice clump of cat fur, what a treat!

people told us that when we had a real baby, we would forget all about louis..... not so. i love louis more than ever. when i look at him, he reminds me of my former, simpler life. :) i always tell him that he is my low maintenance son. we love you, flat face.

independence day, 2008this was the extent of the smith family fireworks: i bought this cool little sparkler that read "july 4". it was cute but when all the letters blew up together it was a little intense.

i lied, we had more than just that one firework.... i mean sparkler...... the "july 4" one came with two free regular ones. just call me frugal. actually dont, i loathe that word.

we were lucky enough to be invited to a fourth of july party on lake sammamish. i offered to bring potato salad to the party, which was a big commitment, being that i had never made it before. it was pretty labor intensive but it turned out to be pretty ok. someone else had brought red licorice, so i was a happy camper.

craig is obsessed with this picture. he really wanted me to put it on here and caption it "tagg is getting REALLY big". no, but it does look like tagg is holding that little boy in his hand. we had a good fourth, however, i wonder if tagg is about to get some teeth....... he just hasnt been himself lately. we'll see.....

my little partner in crime:five months ago today, tagg was born. he is everything i hoped he would be. his gummy little smile is my favorite. and even though it is kind of abnoxious, i secretly love how he is such a momma's boy. happy five months, taggy.
some firsts
it has been scorching hot here the past couple of days. i am not kidding..... like 95 degrees. so, we went and bought tagg a little floaty thingy and took him to the pool for the first time.

the water was just perfect (not too cold, not too warm) so tagg loved it! he just kicked his porker legs around and thoroughly enjoyed himself.

i think he looks just like craig in this picture. he for sure got craig's eyes. look at that noggin. he needs some hair, STAT. hopefully, his head is that big because he inherited his father's brains as well.

tagg was completely wiped out after the pool excursion.

this week, tagg got his first taste of cereal. i promised myself that i would wait to feed him cereal until six months...... but i only made it to five. i am going to introduce food very slowly with tagg but i thought a little rice cereal wouldnt kill. also, it was a very hot and boring evening and we needed some entertainment. and like my mom says: the first kid is really just a toy! :)
