more of my little craig-clone.
i have LOVED every second of being a mommy. from the great hospital stay to taking him on walks around the neighborhood. i love tagg more every minute of the day. honestly, how could one not be absolutely OBSESSED with this face?
i think every picture of him is fascinating and beautiful. thats why, lately, my blog has been one little face shot after another of tagg. however, we are slowly getting out more and doing "normal life" things, so hopefully that means more diversity in my pictures!
until then, soak up the handsomeness that is my son.

some recent favorites
i love when he does this with his lips. a couple of days ago, craig's mom brought over a photo album of craig when his was a little baby. tagg looks just like his daddy! and i even came across a photo where craig was making this same face.
tagg was sleeping on my tummy this morning and it made me realize that he could easily still be in there (i was 2 weeks late.....)! i cant believe he ever fit inside of me! no wonder my ribs ached and my bladder was smooshed.

a kitty update
we were all a little worried about how louis would handle tagg coming into the family. however, two weeks have passed and so far so good. louis shows mild interest in tagg (occasionaly sniffing him) but other than that, leaves him alone. also, i read somwhere that cats are the 15 year old girls (meaning moody and selfish) of the animal kingdom; therefore, expect them to cop an attitude when a baby comes along. but louis has been great about everything. i think i will go feed him a whisker lickin now. louis, not tagg.

tagg, enjoying life:
for my birthday lunch, tagg, my aunt, my mom and i went down to our favorite cuban sandwich place. tagg and i just waited in the car while they got the food. i snapped this cute picture of him, making a snooty face.
this picture was taken right after his first bath at home. he loves his baths! he just sits back and lets me do all the work. its like a tagg spa.
i love his face in this picture. this was at his first doctors visit; only 5 days after he was born. he had already surpassed his birth weight! he is SUCH a eater.

the story
at 9.40pm, my water broke. which was pretty exciting except that tagg was breech, so i wasnt really supposed to go into labor. we rushed to the hospital as quickly as we could. the second i got there, the nurses started monitoring me and the baby. i was excited about the surprise labor but i was also a little stressed....
the proud grandmas. cheri and my mom were loving every minute of it. they werent the ones in hard labor!
speaking of someone who was super happy..... craig! he was great through it all. i feel so blessed to have such a fantastic husband. i loved sharing this experience with him.
this was right after tagg was born. they were still sewing me up from my c-section. i was pretty out of it from the spinal block. i was really scared about getting the spinal but it turned out to be ok and everything went smoothly.
when i first found out the tagg was breech and so i would have to have a c-section i was kinda bummed. the biggest reason why i was sad was because i knew i wouldnt be able to hold him right after he was born; craig would just have to hold him up to my face. as it turned out, i loved seeing craig bond with tagg in those first special minutes. craig loves his daddy-son time.
my dad and mom love tagg like their own son. seriously. i am not kidding. my mom has even said "thanks for being the surrogate mother to my new son." scary, i know.
i love this picture of him. he is such a happy baby.
this is my mom's favorite picture of tagg. we were sure that he wouldnt have any hair when he was born (could craig and i get any more anglo-saxon? no. hence, no babies with hair). so the twenty strands tagg ended up having was very exciting.
the proud mother, i mean grandmother.
i felt like a complete dog during my hospital stay. i was only allowed two sponge baths. (i gave them to myself, ok jocelyn?!) but this is one of our first family photos, so no time to be vain.
it is amazing how one day a little baby is born and then your whole world turns upside down. i have always heard that but now i know how true it is. on thursday i was walking around the mall and going to the social security office and on friday i was recovering from major stomach surgery and changing diapers.
craig and tagg. we have decided that tagg got craig's eyes (lucky!) and my nose and mouth. now we are just waiting to see whose hands he got. we all pray that he didnt inherit mine (think short fat sausages).
this was right before we were about to leave the hospital. it felt weird getting back into "normal people" clothes. i will miss those hospital gowns!
i loved the little hospial bands we all got. however, i found out that craig really loved his. i had to beg him to take his off today (a day and a half after we had left the hospital!)
this is the little white board that was hanging in our hospital room. i seriously loved every minute we spent in the hospital. i am trying to cherish each moment because i know that life goes by so quickly and before i know it, tagg will be five years old!

taggart romney smith
i had a c-section scheduled for monday, the fourth of february, but tagg had something else in mind. we were watching the season premier of LOST on thursday night when my water broke! we rushed to the hospital and by the time i had my c-section (only an hour and a half later) i was already having major contractions that were only a couple minutes apart! turns out i am an efficient laborer! good to know for next time.
tagg was born at 12.37am weighing six pounds, 12 ounces. he is a very happy boy and is fantastic with the whole nursing thing already. craig and i cannot stop pinching ourselves with delight over our new baby. he is everything we ever hoped for.
