maybe this was the day.....
IMG_0433
we took tagg to his first mariners game last week. you know how all the star athletes say they remember the day when they were three and their dad took them to the ball field and that was the day the decided they were going to go pro? well i was telling myself that this was the day when tagg told himself that.

IMG_0436
but quite honestly, he couldnt stop shoveling kettle corn into his mouth long enough to even glance at the field.....

IMG_0441
cotton candy was a big hit too. pure sugar. pure tagg heaven.

IMG_0449
i loved being at safeco with tagg and craig on such a beautiful nite. and the mariners won!

IMG_0457
one of my favorite places in seattle, safeco field. (and we had cuban before the game so it really was a great nite)

IMG_0455
a cute asian tourist took this picture of us. she was so excited to do it. craig said she probably wanted a picture of her taking a picture of us. oh, craig.

short family reunion 2010
IMG_0400
we just returned from a long weekend in brookings, oregon (the last town on the coast before you hit california) for my dad's family reunion.

IMG_0403
tagg was obsessed with the beach. (even though to this san diego native, it was more like a windy place where hard sand met cold water.) we literally had to stop him from going all the way in.

IMG_0406
my parents at the bonfire at the "beach".

IMG_0413
we went on a hike to see the amazing redwood trees. tagg was quite the little daredevil and just wanted to climb higher and higher.

IMG_0412
tagg with his cousins-ish. to be honest, i dont know his exact relationship status to ella, julie and jason. but he sure did love them all.

IMG_0415
we were laughing pretty hard while taking this picture. i made tucker take off his shirt and pretend to climb a tree. i legitimately hate the whole twilight situation but sometimes its fun to play into it. honestly, some of our teenage cousins wanted their picture taken with "edward"!

IMG_0416
it is kind of hard to tell, but we are standing in front of a huge tree that had fallen over. that was its trunk. pretty impressive.

36907_404086594683_677534683_4160401_1544387_n
it was so cute when tagg insisted on sitting on "gampa"'s lap. and who knows why tucker thought he belonged in the great-grandkids picture.

36907_404086604683_677534683_4160402_6124292_n
the grand children. minus taylor, kenny and kim. right before this picture was taken my grandpa yelled "MERRY CHRISTMAS". so funny.

IMG_0426
we also took tagg to the little theater in town to see his first movie, toy story 3.

IMG_0428
you never know what kind of face tagg will make for a picture. its kinda a crap shoot.

i had a great and relaxing time with my family in brookings. there's nothing like good times in a small town with loved ones.

happy dental school graduation/5th anniversary/30th birthday
IMG_0352
to celebrate all of those events, craig and i traveled to maui to spend a week in the sun.

hawaii03
view from our hotel room balcony.

IMG_0237
the graduate/husband of five fabulous years/thirty year old.

IMG_0261
dont worry. i did not just have major dental work done. the chipmunk cheeks are due to my cheap snorkel set that dug into my face.

IMG_0248
a gorgeous sunset in lahaina.

IMG_0252
craig and me.

hawaii01
soaking up some much needed sun.

IMG_0319
yikes.

hawaii05
the beach right in front of our hotel.

IMG_0340
people watching in the lobby.

IMG_0343
craig, me and king kamehameha.

IMG_0345
another beautiful sunset.

IMG_0274
this was approximately 2 minutes after i broke my toe hiking down to these dang pools. even though i was in intense pain the view was still pretty awesome.

IMG_0288
and to top off the bad-day-but-relatively-speaking-because-we-were-still-in-hawaii we were stuck on the opposite side of the island for 9 nine hours due maui being on fire.

IMG_0378
craig enjoying the views from the very-off-limits lava fields. dont even get me started on environmentalists.

IMG_0361
us.

IMG_0373
a beached whale, i mean me, at wailea beach.

hawaii04
the pool at our hotel.

IMG_0383
our fancy nite at mama's fish house.

IMG_0385
picture time after dinner. the restaurant is literally a couple feet from the shore. gorgeous view and delicious food.

hawaii06
one last view of pure heaven.

IMG_0390
checking out.

IMG_0397
craig was obsessed with the head rests that positioned to fit your head. someone's easily impressed....

IMG_0388
i cannot thank craig's mom and dad enough for watching tagg while we were gone. honestly, our trip to hawaii was some of the best few days of my life. craig was such a fun travel buddy and there's nothing better than the smell of your skin cooking.

doctor smith
IMG_0209
last saturday craig graduated from uw dental school. we are so incredibly proud of his hard work over the past four years.....

IMG_0195
especially tagg! he yelled "yeah daddy!" several times during the graduation ceremony.

IMG_0217
my parents spoiled craig with a super nice driver for his graduation present.

IMG_0221
that nite we celebrated at bonefish. congratulations to craig and a big thank you to his parents and mine for their love and support.

didnt you just do that?
IMG_0141
thats what all the men in our familia had to say when we told them there was another girls trip in the works. but it was brooke's fiftieth so we had a good excuse. megan, my mom and i arrived at the san diego airport beaming from ear to ear because of a little thing called THE SUN. we havent seen it quite some time......

IMG_0150
brooke, shanna and mom picked us up from the airport and after gorging ourselves at fins we headed downtown to 'pend the nite. this was our postcard view from the hotel room.

IMG_0154
after settling in, we went over to old town and chowed down (yup, more eating) on serious mexican food.

IMG_0156
eating an eeeeeee-churro. (thats how my dad pronounces the mariners' japanese outfielder's name, ichiro suzuki. and it always makes me want to eat a churro.)

girlsretreat01
there is a brand new mormon battalion visitor's center in old town and it is fantastic. you can look up ancestors and see their rank and other facts. this is LOT SMITH, craig's ancestor. he was the youngest member of the mormon battalion and looks just like craig! we were all laughing.

IMG_0163
later that nite, we crammed into bed and played with brooke's new toy and watched multiple episodes of hoarders.

IMG_0166
the next morning, we got all dolled up for a day of shopping.

IMG_0168
a feminine man walking around fashion valley carried these little poodles in his purse.

IMG_0142
after shopping, we went back to brooke's house and handed out our swag. these are the bags i made everyone.

girlsretreatbag01
basically our family's motto.

girlsretreat02
speaking of bags...... to make a VERY long and painful story short (not to mention cryptic) i found this bag in brooke's closet and let's just put it this way, it came to rescue. big time. thank you, bloody burberry bag.

IMG_0172
the next day, we headed up to orange county. this was at pf changs in fashion island. there may have been a few gorgeous male waiters that were happy when this table full of gawking old biddies left.

IMG_0174
my mom, me and megan.

IMG_0173
mom, brooke and shanna.

IMG_0179
the four sisters. right after we had been RUDE-ly kicked out of neiman marcus. i was in the middle of changing when all the lights went out. no warning announcement or anything. i hate that store.

IMG_0180
my mom and me.

IMG_0178
the girls.

IMG_0184
the damage.

IMG_0187
leaving san diego after another wonderful girls trip. there may have been some major bumps (and i am not talking about the one on my stomach) but like always, we pull it out and turn everything into a party. a low energy party, of course.
