jessica was kind enough to send the "tag" my way, and it has been fun thinking of six random facts about myself.
1. i went brunette right after i got married. i have been highlighting (sounds nicer than "bleaching") my hair since i was 12. i think my post-puberty natural hair color is pretty dark blonde. i dont know what gave me the idea, but as soon as we got back from our honeymoon, i made a little appointment to dye my hair brown. a really dark brown. i didnt hate it at first, but lets just say i went back to being blonde as soon as chemically possible (which was probably about 6 months). i guess i really didnt enjoy being brunette because i was trying to find a picture of me during this dark period, and i couldnt find ONE.
2. i am a hasty person. back in highschool, marissa and kirsten would always tell me how quick i was at doing things. sometimes i was too quick and i would spill or break something. when my friends would point this out to me i would become defensive. (to this day, they still show me how i eat a bag of doritos like a bullet!) since i have been married, craig has pointed out my hastiness quite a few times too. however, i have changed my idea about the whole thing. i have decided to embrace my hastiness and let it flourish. i know that i am quick at picking up new skills and i always seem to find the fastest way of doing things. who cares. i say "haste makes waste" can kiss my quick butt.
3. i like seeing movies (in theaters) by myself. ok. to be fair, i have only done this once before. but i loved it, and i plan on doing it again. when i was in highschool, my cousin, brother and i traveled over to bainbridge island. we went to this cute little theater in the woods. they saw some boy movie, and i saw moulin rouge. it was so fun! i loved seeing the movie all by myself and not having to worry if the friend/husband/family member next to me was enjoying themselves.
4. i give nicknames to strangers. this phenomenon has kind of come to a stand still since i left college. however, i still find myself seeing people and giving them quick little names. i used to walk around campus and realize that i had a name for almost every person i walked by. now, dont get the wrong idea. i didnt give out names like "ugly girl" or "dumb man". they were names like "number 42" (as in the jersey number a guy would wear) or "goldie" (referring to a girl that enjoyed wearing a lot of gold). it was a fun little game, and it made it easier to talk about crushes we had on boys! (no one knew who we were talking about!)
5. i dont know what is living inside of me. this lady at work doesnt believe me when i say that i dont have a "feeling" about whether or not my baby is a boy or a girl. but i really dont. sometimes i think the baby is a boy (my mom would stake her life on that) but sometimes i picture myself pushing around my stroller..... and in these fantasies, the baby is always a girl. so who knows. i just cannot believe that there is a person living inside of me and i dont know if it is a "he" or a "she". how fun!
6. i really wanted to live in new york. when craig was applying to a bunch of different dental schools, i was rooting for columbia. and then, when he got accepted there (and we hadnt heard from UW yet) i was living on cloud nine. picturing myself taking the subway everywhere, shopping everyday, and becoming a true new yorker. then, craig got accepted to UW, and there was no question that we would go there instead. i love seattle, being next to family, and saving tons of money...... but i still dream about living the "real life" in manhattan. someday, i will get over it. someday.
ok. so i would enjoy it if jocelyn, liz, and dani participated in this little exercise. i love reading this kind of stuff. get to it.
