take that back.
wisdomteethweek
so i have to take back what i said about being a champ with the whole wisdom teeth extraction thing. after about the third day of my recovery, things got a whole lot worse. i have literally been sitting at home for the past week. i would say that at times (usually every five and a half hours... when my ibuprofen is about to wear off) my pain is at a 7. and thats "leaving room at the top of the scale" as my sweet nurse instructed me to do when i was in labor with sully. its been pretty bad.

pudding
but luckily i have craig, my mom and these two little crazies to take care of me. and pudding. pudding helps.

new quilt
springquilt
i made this quilt top a year ago. but never got around to quilting it. i liked it... but wasnt sure i was going to love it. my mom taught me that the real art to quilting is to put random fabrics together... and not to use fabrics from the same line in a quilt. this was the first quilt where i used all the fabrics from one line. i kind of felt like i was letting the quilt gods down. but then last week, i found this quilt top in the back of my closet and decided it should be finished. and i am happy it was. i love how it turned out. and its a nice departure from the usual circle quilt. and just so i wouldnt feel like i total loser.... the binding is a random fabric. :)

wisdom teeth
wisdomteeth
a couple of days ago, i had craig pull my wisdom teeth. it was the first time craig officially worked on me and we were both quite nervous. (me because of obvious reasons and craig because he was worried i wouldnt be a good patient. how rude!) but i am happy to report that besides me drooling blood all over the waiting room as i was being introduced to craig's assistants (i told him to introduce me BEFORE my procedure... but no dice) everything went perfectly well. and i am recovering like a champ. thanks, dr. smith. youre my favorite dentist.

hawaii 2012
IMG_2049
we just returned from a wonderful week in hawaii. we left sully at home (i thought he wouldnt enjoy the sand and sun quite yet) and headed off to maui.

IMG_1506
i was practically jumping out of my seat with excitement when i saw the sun as we landed.

IMG_1830
my mom had found this amazing condo on kaanapali north beach. it was fabulous. even the coat closet made a great bedroom for grace! (just so no one calls cps, grace chose to stay in there :) )

IMG_1645
the first day, we played at the pool, tried to get used to the sun, and enjoyed pina coladas.

IMG_2042
the next morning, we woke up and walked down to black rock. we snorkeled and played in the sand.

IMG_1548
snorkeling.

IMG_1566
tagg and craig loved making super big holes in the sand. i was very worried that after we left, someone would break a leg after falling in!

IMG_1579
tagg's own little pool.

IMG_2036
that night, we drove over to d.t. fleming beach to watch the waves.

IMG_1677
the next day, we headed north to the olivine pools. last time i was in hawaii, i was six months pregnant with sully and when we made the hike down to these pools i broke my toe. so i was reluctant to go back this time but i am glad we did. david and eli loved swimming in the pools.

IMG_1680
tagg and craig at the olivine pools.

IMG_1690
afterwards, we made the treacherous drive over to julia's banana bread. the drive is NOT for the faint of heart. a skiiiiiinny one lane road. through the mountains. high above the ocean. with no guard rails. but the banana bread and passionfruit butter was worth it!

IMG_1652
that night, we got cleaned up and went out to dinner. grilled pineapple pulled pork sandwiches. very delicious.

IMG_1871
then we came back for our nightly ritual of watching downton.

IMG_1606
tagg liked the beach but LOVED the pool. so we spent most mornings playing in the waterfalls and waterslide at the condo.

IMG_1806
megan had had enough sun on her face apparently.

IMG_1749
when i could convince tagg to get sandy, we played in the sand and looked for shells.

IMG_0274
that night, we got dressed up, left the kids at home, and drove over to mama's fish house. this place is like an adult's disneyland. the setting is unbelievable and the food is fantastic.

IMG_1718
our appetizers.

IMG_1724
megan's dessert. dont worry, she shared. oh wait. nope, she didnt.

IMG_1719
me and craig.

IMG_1761
the the next day, the weather was gorgeous! this is the view from our condo's balcony.

IMG_0288
poolside.

tagg was quite the daredevil. he went down the slide a million times all by himself. and towards the end of the week, he did it even without his floats.

IMG_1776
after working so hard, tagg usually needed some down time in the afternoon. wow.

IMG_1772
for lunch, craig found this authentic mexican place. their fish tacos were so good.

IMG_1798
that night, we took tagg the old banyan tree in lahaina. he loved climbing it.

IMG_1797
it was hard to get him to come down!

IMG_1863
later that night, we left the kids at home and went for dessert.

IMG_2043
the next day was easter sunday. we enjoyed the sweet sacrament meeting at the local ward.

IMG_0314
later, we made easter dinner.

IMG_1831
the next day, we drove over to my favorite part of the island. we stopped for some ice cream on the way.

IMG_2031
we hiked out to what seemed like the edge of the world. i LOVED it.

IMG_1842
the lava had formed this amazing blowhole.

IMG_1859
when we couldnt walk anymore, we found a secluded little beach and started looking for shells and creatures. tagg was in heaven.

IMG_2033
tagg spotted this little crab. can you?

IMG_2034
then we snorkeled. which is my absolute favorite thing to do. and as we were there, a native drove by and told us that we had found the best place on the island for snorkeling. yes! validation. and from a native. thats huge.

IMG_1968
tagg found his own little native.

IMG_1982
as we left that beautiful part of the island, we stopped by secret beach. it really is amazing.

IMG_0324
that night, we walked over to whalers village and enjoyed the sunset.

IMG_2032
enjoyed the sunset a little too much. ha! eeeeewwwww.

IMG_1885
the next day was more sun and beach.

IMG_1957
me and tagg.

IMG_0333
on our last evening in hawaii, we walked down to the beach to watch the sun set. i was so happy we could share the trip with my parents.

IMG_1935
the sunset.

IMG_2015
tagg was very fun in hawaii. we had such a special week.
